Boost.Geometry on BoostCon’10

Boost Geometry (aka Generic Geometry Library, GGL)Boost.Geometry talk is scheduled for BoostCon’10 conference. Thanks to Barend Gehrels, Boost.Geometry team will be represented on the conference.

In spite of the fact I’m listed as a speaker for BoostCon’10, I will not attend this amazing event. I’ve planned to be there, I can’t make it this year, unfortunately.

Talk on Geometry Template Library

Another video from BoostCon’09 conference. This time it is about the Geometry Template Library (GTL) for STL-like 2D operations by Lucanus Simonson and Gyuszi Suto:

Here is PDF document with slides from the conference talk. The GTL library was submitted to Boost C++ Libraries for formal review as Boost Polygon library. Performance was at large a significant subject of posted reviews and discussions. Barend and Bruno from Generic Geometry Library (GGL) have been working hard to build a comprehensive performance study of Open Source geometry libraries available on the market. Results and source code are available.

QGIS tracks on BoostCon’09

In one of presentations from this year’s edition of BoostCon, I found a small track of Quantum GIS project. This is Bill Hoffman‘s presentation titled A CMake-Based Software Process for Development and Integration Testing (PDF) and the track is citation taken from Martin Dobias’ blog post Having fun with CMake:

I was quite surprised with the speed of building Quantum GIS codebase in comparison to Autotools.

All presentations from the BoostCon’09 are available to download including Barend‘s slides and article with about Generic Geometry Library. There are much more interesting materials from the conference available and as another one somehow related to geospatial works, I’d like to point Graphics Programming Workshop about programming with Adobe’s Graphics Interface Library which is a part of Boost C++ Libraries (>= 1.35.0). There are both, slides and source codes, available to download.

Geospatial bits on BoostCon’09

On the 3rd of May 2009, the best event dedicated to C++ programmers starts in Aspen, US. It is BoostCon’09. The conference gathers developers and users of Boost C++ Libraries.

This year the event brings some flavour of geospatial technologies. Barend Gehrels and Bruno Lalande – core developers – are presenting their Generic Geometry Library

    uff. :-)
