It’s nothing new, but a reminder of brilliant and completely unbiased overview of MapServer by Paul Ramsey. If you haven’t enjoy it yet, do it now!
MapServer is not for lazy people! lazy people, you may leave now!
And, it’s not a bug, it’s a feature!
Steven’s comment made me to re-think the sentence above and generalise it to the one below:
Free and Open Source Software is not for lazy people!
Although, I’m aware of the fact for many it may sound like a platitude, but it still applies.
There is an error in slide 25. There is at least one black person: Yewondwossen Assefa.
Hmm, you seem to be having right. Thanks!
Sorry – I think you have confused lazy with “tired of dealing with overly-complicated software”. Said in jest as someone who is not a fan but still appreciate what people can make the software do. Feels like it is sendmail versus postfix where mapserver is sendmail and geoserver is postfix
Steve,
I agree with you that overly-complicated software is bad. However, I don’t consider MapServer (and the rest of related stack) as such. I’m sure there are users for whom GeoServer is complicated or at least complex.
I’d read Paul’s message as in more general way: FOSS is not for lazy people.
