In or around May 18, 2006 the Orange Open Movie project Team released the first open movie titled Elephants Dream. What’s the idea behind this project?
âElephants Dreamâ is the result of almost a year of work, a project initiated and coordinated by the Blender Foundation. Six people from the Blender user/development community were selected to come over to Amsterdam to work together on an animated short movie, utilizing Open Source tools only.
BBC announced today about rare discovery – a hybrid of grizzly and polar bear. Such hybrids were known from zoos or stories about coloured bears. I’m pretty surprised such hybrids have not been found till now.
Unfortunately, the bear was shot dead by an American big game hunter. Biologists said it was the offspring of a male grizzly bear and a female polar bear.

Yesterday, I installed Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition and Microsoft Platform SDK. I followed manual installation instructions to install Visial C++ 2005. Second, I installed Platform SDK as described here. I also had to take a few additional steps, not explained in the guidelines above. Simply, official guidelines seems to be incomplete. So, if you are going to build GDAL with Visual C++ 2005, please follow instructions from the [Gdal-dev] Building with Visual C++ 2005 Express thread on the gdal-dev list. I also wrote short HOWTO as comment #3 to bug report #1170 recently submitted to GDAL bugzilla.
